SPL PRO outer tie rod ends NEW VERSION 5

SPL announces yet another update to our PRO outer tie rod ends. Our new version 5 shanks are now made from 9310 steel alloy (Nickel-chromium-molybdenum steel), this super tough alloy is what is used in performance transmission gears! As some of you know we were backordered on the tie rod ends for the last 3 months, the main reason was that we had to wait 2 months for the material (very hard to find in such a small diameter).

9310 has greater impact and tensile strength over 4130 chromoly, we selected this material to withstand the impacts from the steering assembly bouncing off the steering stop when drifting. Our v5 shanks are heat treated to 190ksi tensile strength (similar to ARP head studs!), and are about 25% stronger than our v4 shanks:

certification

Our v4 tie rod ends were the strongest on the market, and our v5 end take it to the next level! We guarantee this IS the strongest product on the market by far. Our design and strong (and expensive) materials set us apart, that is why our outer tie rod ends have stood up to the abuse and others haven't.

Most other features remain unchanged from v4, including:

QA1 high misalignment rod ends, with a crazy 65deg misalignment angle to prevent the tie rod end from binding up on slammed cars. Other tie rod ends allow for only 20-35deg misalignment. We also use 5/8" rod ends, which are much larger and stronger than those used in competing products.

Up to 1" bump steer adjustment (more than anyone else), with our Super Duralumin (2024 aluminum alloy) adjustment spacers

Super Duralumin (2024) buckle for lighter weight -- unlike many of our competitors, we do not use regular 6061 grade aluminum which will strip out in this high stress application. 2024 aluminum is 50% stronger than 6061, there is a difference!

Ability to use Z33 (350Z/G35) or Z32 (300ZX) inner tie rods -- strong, cheap, easy to source

Chris Forsberg uses our v4 (not even v5!) outer tie rod ends (as well as our other suspension links) on his Formula-Drift 350Z this season! Chris Forsberg Racing :: Home

Our v5 outer tie rod ends are $229 and are finally in-stock and shipping!

Owners of our v1-v4 outer tie rod ends can order upgrades to the latest version from this page:

Unless you have certain modded spindles (MA Motorsports, etc), our outer tie rod ends will not bolt up with the standard Tein S13/S14 inner tie rods. Our outer tie rod ends are designed to be used with either OEM Z32 or Tein Z33 (350Z) inner tie rods...

Just upgrade to the Z32 Tein ones, their older stuff isn't as awesome as their newer stuff. You can always sell your old Tein ones to someone else just getting into the game.

Plus when you upgrade you get the convenience of being (for the most part) up to date with their current catalog.

I'm rocking the V4s on my car.

We can custom build one to fit the Tein S13/S14 but the buckle will be steel instead of Super Duralumin. Also you may have to cut a little off the length of your Tein inners to get the toe in spec, this is a common issue with getting aftermarket outers to fit with the S14 style inners. That is why we no normally do not sell this setup anymore.

I'm definately going to pick these up soon.. I hear nothing but good things about SPLparts.

So for my s14, since I drift, I would need Tein z33 inner tie rods and these v5 outer tie rod ends right? They would bolt right on?

Well besides the obvious threading is different, probably the lengths and of course the ability to use the new SPL stuff

Haha, I honestly don't know, you should be asking Kuah.

Right, the Tein Z33 inners an SPL v5 outers would bolt-on when installed together.

Yup, and the Z33 inners are actually beefier as well. Our outers are therfore longer than the stock/Tein S14 outers...

It will work with the Ikeya inners if you have modified knuckles (ie. MA Motorsports, PBM, etc).

Is there any way I can get shorter shanks? I don't need the bump-steer adjustment because I'll be using PSM knuckles.

I had v4's on my other car, and they were great! Steering feel was much better.

You can just cut off the extra length of shank if it is not needed

There are still enough threads? Coool.

I'll use the spacers for now, and then when I get the knuckles I'll cut the extra shank off.

Good deal. Expect an order soon!

Basically you install it with the configuration of spacers you want, leave any unused spacers off, any part of the shank that sticks out past the bottom nut can be trimmed/cut off as needed.
