Well they are preshrunk but they do shrink a little bit out of the dryer- I wear a medium and feel the same that you do, a large is too big- so I just hang dry mine and it fits perfect every time
As far as returns, I cannot take back anything that shows signs of wear or that has been washed- If you do try it on and deside that you need a large, you would have to cover shipping for the items, but it sounds to me like you just need some mediums man...
